One day before he was \"put to sleep\", staff members went to visit the shelter looking for a dog for the film...\n\nThey chose him over the other dogs because he picked up a stone from the floor and started playing with it as if it were a toy. The staff members realized that he could have a real presence in the film and that he had enormous potential to be trained. During filming, the dog couldn't stand the noise of car engines and had to be fitted with special earplugs.\n\nAt the end of the film, one of the camera operators adopted him.
