SF is a feed builder for those who don't want to or know how to open their RSS feed and edit it by hand. It does the same thing a hosting company does, gives a UI for inputting different fields, builds an XML file, but it let's you download it and host it on your own server instead of the host's server.
So yeah, you can just add a tag if you want to, as long as you use a declared namespace in your feed, it won't break anything. So adding podcast:mix would totally work.
