Economic and data ownership.
Economics issue: Slack at a company starts off as this bottom up msging for a small department, then overtime becomes a virus that the whole company ends up using. The next thing I know, I’m paying a 6 figure bill to Salesforce. 6 figures for chat software?!? I’d rather give say half of that to open source/nostr and save the company the other half (think enterprise linux vs Microsoft)
Data issue: if the whole company is on slack that means all that data (which overtime becomes a lot) is locked up in Salesforce ecosystem. I’d rather it be a private nostr node where we could ensure another company doesn’t own it, and then give us the freedom to use it ourselves in a multi modal way with tools like search, LLM training, etc.
There are other interesting new things that could be enabled too (like payments, rewards etc), but those two at least are annoying problems to me in a corporate setting.
