I think fluency in the vernacular plays a role.
For many - especially here - the nuance of virtual spaces can get lost. Each space has its own set of mores and they drift over time, sometimes becoming inscrutable.
Do I respond to a general "hello, world" greeting?
How do I do that?
Should I answer?
Will a "like" do?
Maybe I should "boost?"
Not knowing how to respond can result in no response.
