I don’t think Apple needs to “own” all these things. Every year or so, they Sherlock another app, and crush competition under unbearable weight. Because the Apple version is better for that first year or two, but then after the competition is gone, they sometimes let an app wither. I’m not saying Weather is withering now. But it made a big leap a few years ago and has since been mainly stagnant. It is noticeable.
