I‘ve read only the headline and the capsule summary, but I don’t need to read the article to know that it hits all the distortions and probably finds one or two interesting new ones.
The idea they are desperately trying to deny is that mobility services are pretty much the canonical exemplary public service. It’s nearly impossible to operate them at a profit without massive state subsidy covering most of the operational expenses. Not to say anything about non-recurring costs. And that’s just an obvious fact that falls out of the numbers.
But if there’s one thing economalists know how to do: it’s make up bullshit that explains why the numbers don’t matter. So here we are.
