Because you can run your own relay, there will be hundreds of relays, and will always be free open-to-anyone relays. Quite opposite from what we have now. I’ve never been on Mastodon or looked too deeply into it, but from what I’ve heard it was Bird app parading as decentralized but was really no different that discord. And you can connect to hundreds of relays if you want so even if one blocks you you’re still broadcasting to others. And even if blocked and I’m connected to a second relay with you I’m still going to see it via the other relay.

Content moderation in and of itself isn’t horrible for things like what happened yesterday. It’s moderation if free speech and thought that’s a problem. Silencing dissidents or opposition that is really at the heart of all of this. Nobody cares that a dick pic gets removed from Twitter/Facebook/IG etc. It’s when a free thought is suppressed or removed.
