I don't usually dwell on the sad moments. (I think of myself as writing romcoms sometimes...the "com" is for communist.)
Whenever I write someone sitting at someone's hospital bedside, I'm usually remembering sitting in the ICU the night my father died. So that's a thing (more for me, though).
