To get started, let's agree on some definitions. I like my tomatoes cut in cubes so cuts will either be parallel or perpendicular to an existing cut and I'll make the same number of cuts in each direction. So if I make two cuts across a slice of tomato they'll be parallel then if I rotate the tomato and cut again, I'll make two cuts and they'll be perpendicular to the first cuts. Finally, let's call a group of cuts that are all parallel a set of cuts.
