As non-american I find it very weird many of otherwise mostly sensible side of americans use letters to refere to words. It is very confusing. In this case i guess you refere to the word retarded?
When talking about the use of a word it must be ok to use the word even if in most contexts it is viewed as offensive.
Do you not trust that people understand context at all?
