The first time I cracked a 512 bit RSA key that secured something important was over twelve years ago. I found another last month.
I filed a bug report against OpenSSL proposing a plan to drop support for anything smaller than 1024 bits. One of the devs asked me to submit a PR, so hopefully this is happening.
