Here's Friday afternoon's chorus of male korimako/NZ bellbirds, singing in the rain in the middle of the O Tāne Aotearoa/New Zealand Gardens of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
The oldest native trees in the O Tāne Aotearoa gardens were planted between 1910 and 1927, and now it feels like a real native forest right in the middle of the city. The korimako certainly approve. Their numbers are highest here, in Riccarton Bush, and in the Port Hills.
