I find myself doing double-takes on YouTube and Twitter comments to see if they're AI generated, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I think this will be the thing that kills mainstream social media. Hopefully the Fedi will be able to mobilise good defences. This is the most human place on the internet, people here have conversation rather than vying for likes and various other types of corporate internet points.
Got half a mind to just turn comments of my YouTube videos for that reason too.
