If Primal was a walled garden, then nothing posted from another Nostr client could be seen from Primal, and nothing posted to Primal could be seen from any other client. Doesn't fit the bill, unless we are using VERY different definitions of "walled garden."

No one is forced to follow anyone, and there is nothing stopping brand new Primal users from customizing their feed immediately, so I have no idea why you are insinuating that users can't "customize their own feed from the start." Is it your argument that Primal has instituted some kind of waiting period before they allow users to add or remove followers or set up custom feeds?

I agree that it would be better if Primal didn't follow specific accounts based on what new users selected as their interests. Indeed, I wrote about this in my review of their Android app and said my preference would be that they follow hashtags instead. But that's a far cry from saying they don't allow users to customize their feed right away. Users can immediately unfollow anyone Primal automatically selected, and users who were already onboarded to Nostr via another client won't have Primal auto-following anyone.

Not sure what you are referring to that can be done with Amethyst. Creating custom feeds based on an advanced search? No, that absolutely cannot be done on Amethyst, which is my primary client of choice on mobile. You CAN select custom feeds that others have created, and you can create lists of npubs on listr.lol to have somewhat customized feeds. But that's beside the point. The question is whether Primal allows feed customization, and it most certainly does. Some of the most robust feed customization available from any Nostr client.

I am aware of GitCitadel (nprofile…7507) and am very excited about Project Alexandria in particular. Which of their particular projects address my two criticisms of Primal? Are they running a caching relay I wasn't aware of?
