Agree on the sentience hype, but rejecting things as "they don't work" because of some hype media take (because companies in terms of direct promises imo are not too far off), without examining what work means, and how work can actually be shaped, goes against what I stand for as a curious and ethically minded technologist. I don't have to mine or own crypto to take a closer, open-minded look, for example.
