Every year by the start of September, the local blackberry brambles are fully under the control of the enormous local (gorgeous) orb-weaver spider guild, which uses overripe berries to lure flies into their webs.
We’ve lived here for seven years but this is the first year I began noticing the teeny baby orb weavers growing up in the buds and blossoms in the spring and early summer. This one tonight was just big enough to peek out at me. (Orb weavers are hella brave.)
