Emeritus Prof Christopher May on Nostr: Before Brexit the UK's economy was a key part of the European political economy... ...
Before Brexit the UK's economy was a key part of the European political economy... however, once we rejected the EU & left we became a peripheral economy, with some strong sectors (albeit in financial services' case, problematic for EU members) and a struggling economy with productivity & investment problems.
Re-engaging with the EU now is from a position of weakness & means working to the EU's agenda not the UK's;
until Starmer internalises this logic he'll get nowhere
