Yep, I handle the backups myself. Since I use a combination of KeePassXC (desktop) / KeePassDX (Android) and Cryptomator, the data are safe. I just have to remember my method of decryption to open it. I also upload to an encrypted cloud storage.
I just set a random schedule on when I update the backup copies, especially the physical backups. The physical backups are my last resort in case I lose access to the PC or online backups.
For physical backups, if one wants to be extra careful, they can store it in a secured vault service. Most important for physical backups, only the user should know about it.
Depending on your needs, you can remove one layer or method; or add another layer or method of security. Or, keep the “high profile” accounts separately from your regular accounts, that way you can store them differently as well.
