I had no idea it was promoted as a slasher -- that makes sense, I suppose, since slashers were big and David Cronenberg was playing a serial killer (!!!) ... when it came out, I was already a giant Clive Barker fan because of Hellraiser, so I saw it because it was a Clive Barker film and knew exactly what I was getting into. :)
