Better times were better in the past
Empirically it is true, the reasons? Much of the blame lies with FIAT money that does not reward the best, another part of the blame lies with statism that avoids natural competition and rewards the friend of the state and not the competent.
Proof of this is music, art, architecture and ultimately politicians. Just compare the current politicians with the politicians of 30 years ago and there is an abysmal difference, if you look back 60 years it is overwhelming and if you look back 90 years it is devastating.
Politics being the art of manipulating the people, and from my point of view a totally despicable profession, at least before politicians had some criteria and even knew how to engage in a debate with some solidity in their arguments, today's politicians are no better than a cockroach, they are garbage.
