npub1g0tuf634rz4suczwj7kgnecr6cyt0eu9xmp3sp0fku68mqehq4msp3tvm4 (npub1g0t…tvm4) I've said this before, I know, but it seems to me that in focusing their vote suppression on favouring older voters over young, they massively underestimated how many older people don't have ID. They just had in their minds a stereotype of the wealthy, healthy old Tory.

Take the decision to accept bus passes from old people but not young people, as blatant an act of vote suppression as you'll see. I'm not sure the Tories realised that there are a *lot* of older people without bus passes - because they don't have a local bus service, or because they never go beyond their immediate neighbourhood, or because they get lifts from friends and family, or because they're not physically able to use the bus.

And older voters disenfranchised by the vote suppression plan are significantly less likely than young voters to organise online and find ways of getting ID. The Tories have suppressed *their own vote*.
