Meemoo (npub148r…tqt6) i think it really just depends on the software. If its something that will be connected to the internet it's probably going to be a good idea to keep it updated lest you become part of some botnet.
when you think of all those IoT cameras and whatnot that are connected to the internet still running firmware from 2005 being used to ddos websites/services.
Otherwise I think it's fine to not update software if it works it works provided it's not connecting to the internets.
