“to whoever is listening” - a collage i made when developing my debut novel, “the ship we built” (prh). even when writing a 200+ page book, words can’t do everything.
during book development, i also made a screenplay version to largely help me understand the reality of the narrator vs his 10 year old interpretation of it. what he can see, can’t see, what he doesn’t have the words for yet, but surely have reality and impact. yesterday, we had an exciting break-thru on the filmmaking front after years of exploration. thankful and excited to share more. in the meantime, will occasionally be sharing windows into that long ongoing project and process here.
