It's possible that we won't, but I do think the introduction of ARM into the server space is making software providers more willing to consider recompiling their legacy bits, which in-turn means Intel (and by extension AMD) will have to compete with ARM on density and power, requiring ISA changes

Intel is already seeking feedback on a variety of ISA changes, the most drastic of which are probably x86S and APX
