It’s that time of year again. Female minions are starting to gather in their neat breeding rows at Nigg Rig Yard on the Cromarty Firth, with pupping expected to begin in the next 10 days. After the blind and helpless ‘puppions’ are born they will bask in the Spring sunshine for three months gorging on bananas and growing rapidly. The males, only 1/4 the size of the females, will arrive in the firth in June ready for frenzied mating. An amazing spectacle for locals and visiting tourists.
