This is what bothered me about Black Mirror more than anything... The ability to create suffering (the endless kind) in ways that have never been possible with these simulations and porting consciousness to the digital world.
Far scarier than anything I've thought about before and while I'm happy to have had children, I am genuinely afraid that there is a future somewhere in which infinite pain is possible and that really does a number on you.
I agree that somebody dying seems bloody simple in comparison!
