In a lot of these Apple Silicon Macs with socketed storage, the cards they’re using don’t look like they have storage controllers on them, they’re just NAND cards with some power regulators on them
Which would explain why they’re not really compatible with other SSDs, the storage controllers are embedded on the SoC
