Yes. The financialization (or commodification) of real estate is the root of many many profound social (and economic) problems.
Capitalism has really gone off the rails, broadly speaking, thanks to Reagan, Friedman, and and the cultural changes (ie greed) institutionalized in the 80s.
Doesn’t have to be this way.
Same thing with the environment. We’re over consuming resources now, and the debt / harm accumulates to the future, if it isn’t already too late.
