Y'know that web UI design pattern where when you log in you can only enter your username/email/whatever, have to hit a button, and can then enter your password?
Why?
There are several obvious ways it's worse for users, both convenience and security. As a developer, it also seems like more work to implement. Why is it so common? Is there a benefit I'm missing?
