To a point yes. Roads and highways are incredibly wasteful & unsustainable expenses.
Similarly, the subsidy of SpaceX for its network satellites is far more expensive than any nationalized infrastructure rollout of simple fiber would cost and to add insult to injury that money is injected into private pockets instead of ultimately feeding back into local and national economy.
