Hui analyzed two very fundamental concepts constituting the back bone of modern systems theory and cybernetics, Recursivity and Contingency, the second one can be imagined as a thing in potentia which hasn’t been actualized yet, however it can be something positive or negative, the point is that technical systems by quantifying contingency, which is deemed immanent in every system, manage to turn negative potentials, which are being actualized through a recursive non linear movement, into positives one.
