You would be surprised on how many people try to argue, that is not how apps on Android or iOS works, completely wanting to ignore the results you and others have confirmed.

I will even double down, and instruct people to talk about something they have no interest in. For example, have an hour long conversation about crocheting, and you will recieve ads if not for crocheting, but at least DYI and Arts & Crafts type ads. Or if you have no interest in electronics, talk about electronics, and watch all the tech type ads come rolling in.

All folks need do is keep their phone on the cable between them.
