When I'm having brunch with a guy and he proceeds to mansplain to me, a scholar of slavery with 24 years of research experience, that of course the U.S. Civil War wasn't about slavery, and everyone who thinks that is unscientific and uncurious, and that, I, in maintaining that the U.S. Civil War was about slavery, am being disrespectful.
