It's about setting reasonable expectations. There is no political solution to the decay of a civilization or the crumbling of an empire. There is no way there will ever be a good presidential candidate in modern America, and even if there was there is no way he would be allowed to effect any significant change.
And there's jack all any of us can do about the political situation.
Given our current situation, Trump is actually better than we deserve. Which doesn't say much for us.
