It's most likely their new banking provider doesnt want to deal with LN + their AI customer support chatbot pretending to be a person telling people that this is due to "new regulations" and "regulatory issues".
There's no EU regulation outlawing LN in effect (yet) that I'm aware of. MiCAR only affects tokens and the Travel Rule has been in effect since AMLD5. Reporting requirements are getting stricter with the AML6 package, but that's also not in effect yet. The EU has issued some reports mentioning LN, but none of that has been drafted into proposals yet.
