with sshkeys? I mean it'll just say pubkey denied. I also just don't like a bunch of failures so fail2ban is nice. If it's behind a vpn? I mean you could just set it to 22 and with password auth it's not like they're going to be accessing it. (fail2ban is useful in the case of like bruteforcing admin@whatever) i've seen that too. people will literally just run a bunch of random logins like postgres@whatever pi@whatever and so on
