The point is in the event that you lose the case and want to appeal. The COURT RECORD is what is important in such situations.
So, when motioning to strike from the record, you are not necessarily doing it for THAT proceeding, but preparing for a possible defeat and making sure the official court record doesn't contain, unnecessarily, information not helpful to the outcome you are ultimately seeking...
