I’m not questioning that 12th century traditional precept of justice, so important to Charlamagne. But 12 jurors is it’s hardly a fixed rule. Unanimous juries aren’t
required in civil cases in the US, and they were only ruled mandatory in state criminal trials by SCOTUS in 2020. And contrary to popular perception, majority verdicts are common throughout the world.
