In 1924, A Salary was introduced for MPs so that parliament was open to working class candidates. The salary was £400 a year with no expenses.
There are very few working class MPs, and expenses are about quarter million a year each.
If you don't enter parliament from a working class background, it's about time the salary was stopped for you, and expenses should only be genuine out of pocket expenses. And if you live within commuting distance of parliament, or you own property within commuting distance, you should not be allowed to claim a second home allowance.
