BELFAST: MAN, 'Ami Avanti', 46, who allegedly strangled & battered his mother, has been acquitted by Judge Ann Marshall 'due to issues around the evidence'
Police footage showed "the elderly mother in a nightdress struggling for breath with heavy bruising on her arms"
On the footage, the mother says "he'd been drinking". The officer interjects, “He’s asked me to call him she”.
Mother says “I do love him, He’s my child, but I just can’t go on like this. Something is not right with him" Court heard no complaint from her. The elderly mother suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease & was hospitalised six times with the condition last year.
Judge Ann Marshall said the mother "struggles to give a clear and consistent account of what happened and when [and how the injuries were sustained].
