.... Are not the law. There are many corporations who would like YOU (and everyone else) to believe their Terms of Services were the law or at the very least, the "be all, above all" rules. They are not.
It is the business of business to make money. No more. No less. You are customer number 123456 and that is all. To that end, they will tell you whatever they think is in their best interest to make more money. That includes, but is not limited to, lying to you point-blank.
Whenever a corporation goes dark-side, I find it a bit amusing, but mostly concerning, how much people try to justify sticking with the corporation or believing somehow they're above it all.
You like Proton? OK. You want a company outside Us-jurisdiction? Great. You want both? That is no longer possible. You will need to decide for yourself which is more important.
