HOA's have an unreasonable degree of power that would be unconstitutional if they were an actual government entity, but this one takes the cake.
An HOA in Oklahoma adopted a new rule requiring homes to be set back 35' from the street. One existing home that is set 20' from the street must obtain a variance permit which if denied would effectively authorize the HOA to force the homeowners to demolish the existing home.
HOA's should be banned in every capacity.
