The gossip model is just something I did in the gossip client so that my users could follow anybody on any relay.
I never pushed for nostr to adopt it. All NIPs are optional. I specifically said on my page about it "I'm not a salesman. Why should I care of other clients don't use the gossip model? Frankly, I don't." When people tried to push for using small relays and to try to stop event copying I publicly said I wasn't going to join that effort. It seems impossible to me to stop event copying given the nature of nostr. I think the outbox model is just ONE way to use nostr, use it if you like it, and don't use it if you don't. For following people it makes lots of sense to me, but maybe not to you.
And yet I still have haters because of it.
If I offer something you don't like, just reject it. Please don't hate me for offering it.
