Consider that mapping from RGB to RGBA does not have a unique solution. In the gray hues of the PCB and the turned off LEDs of your picture, you would want alpha 1, opaque pixels of gray RGB value. OTOH in the same gray hues in the object’s shadow, you might want black pixels but with alpha 0.7 or something.",
