True story about crows.
As the dogs and I approached a raucous murder of crows, we were a little cautious. (Yes, even the dogs. The birds were loud!) The crows were in the canopy that covers the path we were treading. Many were flying around and changing location from branch to branch. There had to be nearly two dozen of them, at least that's how it seemed. And they were angry. No doubt this was not a party.
Then, I saw it. A huge owl suddenly took flight from a relatively low branch darting to the southwest. ALL of the crows nearly in unison launched after it, screaming their battle caws. My companion pups were frozen in place, eyes directed at the sky as the crows flew. We heard a loud screech in the distance accompanied by the cawing of the crows that was fading into the distance.
I hope the owl is okay. It's a giant that we think lives in an old dying tree nearby. Those crows meant business and the owl must've chosen the wrong day to say hello. Of course, in moments like these I NEVER seem to have my camera on me. But I'm thankful to get to witness animal behaviors like this. It feels like I'm living in a nature show sometimes.
