There are people who will tell you that fierce competition between humans is the best way to run things, no matter how many suffer because of it, and that having some people starve somehow improves the rest of us.
There are also people who believe that we could make a much better job of things by cooperating on a carefully worked out plan that ensured everyone had enough.
That second idea really angers the rich people who are ordering us all round. Let's do it anyway!
