We're used to index.html being the file that's displayed when requesting what's actually a folder over HTTP.
I wonder whether there's a better word than "index", because index reminds me a lot of an alphabetical index, which is usually not what these files contain.
I've been thinking of "home.html", but I'd say the "homepage" is only the very top level of a website, not the index in subfolders.
Maybe something like "main.html"? Am I overthinking this?
What would you say?
