you know what really grinds my gears? when people reduce something to an abstract concept. honey, nobody (at least nobody I talk to) believes that it's 100% always immoral to lie. there are specific circumstances in which it is absolutely the right thing to do. By reducing the problem to "it is never okay to lie" you are removing a bunch of context, you are removing a bunch of situations where there's no clear line in morality. I believe in white lies. The things that don't hurt people. If my friend says "Do you think my laugh is annoying?" I'll reply no even if I do think it's slightly annoying. I want my friends to feel comfortable expressing things like joy. If my friend is struggling with mental health, and asking me things like "am I a burden?" I am not going to tell them "Yes you're burdening me with this" I am going to be there for them (I mean, it is truthful I don't think of my friends as a burden, but sometimes if I'm already having my own issues it can be burdening).
