I think Bernard would still make as much, if not more, revenue from Ghost hosting. But I am very aware that for non-tech folks, migrating from Substack is a massive — and intimidating — undertaking. So I can’t say I was surprised by his decision to stay. Substack is the most polished product for professional media people, in terms of ease of use and network effects. My decision to migrate from Substack comes from a position of ‘tech privilege’…so it’s interesting to see what non-geeks decide.
