I'll toss out a bad idea so that someone can improve on it.
How about a set of Mastodon developed and provided predefined filters available to the instance. This would keep everyone that is (trait) from having to define their own (trait) filter. One merely needs to select the (trait) filter and the instance rejects the filtered toot back to the sender.
Maybe the instances can select which filters to make available based upon the community. E.g. if the community is about a race, the filter defines a set of racist terms to act on, such as the N word if that applies to the race.
Yeah, yeah, how would this work? Like i said this is an initial bad idea that someone with knowledge needs to develop into something workable.
